2017 Recap: Yale UniversityAugust 13, 2017
In the past year, Omega Psi Yale had several networking dinner events as well as a roundtable with guest speaker Maya Shankar who founded the White House Social and Behavioral Science Team since 2010.
The round table was Omega Psi Yale’s inaugural event during which a select group of students had an opportunity to interact with the former cognitive science major and Rhodes Scholar to learn more about the applications of cognitive science research in fields outside of academia, such as public policy. Maya Shankar was the Founder- Chair of the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team (SBST) – a cross-agency group of applied behavioral scientists that used behavioral science to implement improvements in Federal programs and policies. In 2016, Maya was asked to serve as the first Behavioral Science Advisor to the United Nations. She is currently the first Head of Behavioral Insights at Google.
In addition to this roundtable, Yale students also had opportunities to interact with their peers and professors in the Brain Sciences through networking dinners. These were regular dinners held to discuss ideas and research in Cognitive Science.
